Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Rick Duncan (“I,” “me,” or “my”) handles information on blog.rickduncan.net and related pages on rickduncan.net. This is a personal site, not a business. I’m not a lawyer; this page is meant to be clear and honest about what happens when you visit.

Who I am

I run a personal homepage and blog under the name Rick Duncan. If you have a privacy question, email me at arduncan58@gmail.com.

What this site collects

Information you send me. If you email me, I receive whatever you put in that message (your address and the content). I use it only to reply and don’t sell it or share it for marketing.

Server and hosting logs. My host (Namecheap) may keep routine server logs such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of visit. Those logs are for security, uptime, and fixing problems. I don’t use them to build marketing profiles.

Cookies and similar tech. The blog uses a cookie-consent tool (CookieAdmin) so you can accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies. See the Cookie Policy on this site for categories and choices. Necessary cookies needed for the site to work may load without a choice.

Analytics. This blog uses Google Analytics 4 (via Site Kit by Google) to understand which pages get read and how people find the site. Analytics cookies load only after you consent through the cookie banner. Google processes that data under its own terms. CookieAdmin’s Google Consent Mode is used so the Analytics tag respects your choice.

Comments and forms. If I add comments or other forms later, this policy will be updated before those features collect personal data beyond what’s listed here.

How I use information

I use site and contact information to:

  • Run and secure the website
  • Reply when you reach out
  • Understand general readership if Analytics is enabled (after consent)
  • Meet legal duties if they apply

I do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

I share information only when needed to run the site (for example, hosting with Namecheap), when a tool I use requires it after you consent (for example, Google if Analytics is enabled), or when the law requires it. Providers process data under their own privacy policies.

Your choices

  • Use the cookie banner to accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies
  • Email me to ask what I hold about you from a message you sent, or to ask me to delete that correspondence when I reasonably can
  • Use browser controls to clear cookies or block them (the site may not work fully if necessary cookies are blocked)

If you are in a region with extra rights (such as GDPR or CCPA), you can also ask about access, correction, deletion, or restriction related to personal data I control. Email me and I’ll respond in a reasonable time.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect their personal information.

How long I keep things

Emails stay until our conversation is done or I no longer need them. Hosting logs follow my host’s retention. Cookie consent choices are remembered for about a year (as set in CookieAdmin), unless you clear cookies sooner.

Changes

If I change this policy in a meaningful way, I’ll update the date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you’ve seen the updated policy.
